Oh My, Good Gracious

I have a new object of affection. Hit the Dock Rudy by Kate Spade.

And of course this particular purse would not be complete without the cutest coin purse I have ever seen. Isn't it just perfect for this bag?

I may need to purchase these items (hey, at least the purse is on sale!) with the first paycheck from my new job. Yup! Thats right! This lady gets to leave "the 9-5" for something far more exciting and intellectually compelling. My new position is entitled "Social Media Manager," I know you must be as happy for me as I am because I have not spared complaint these past months.

The Hub's and I will be packing up and moving north to Annapolis, MD over Memorial day weekend. We could not be more thrilled to be closer to family, friends, the Bay, the beach and fresh seafood! This is a very welcome change. Peace out Hill City!

With all that said, wouldn't this purse be simply perfect for purusing the streets of such a nautical town? Excited. Yes.

Expect posting to be light for a while during my adjustment. I start the new job on Monday (yup, that means back here until the end of May). After that I am back, full force and hopefully better than ever!

Skills

I am going for the short, sweet and simple route today.

I am digging these illustrator skills. It is a back to basics moment. And it looks good.

Check out the Etsy shop here

This is what it all means:

"During the Great Depression, U.S. president Franklin D. Roosevelt employed artists across the country through the Works Progress Administration. The WPA and its subordinate projects such as the Federal Theatre Project and Federal Arts Project embarked on a campaign of education, entertainment and art that brought the arts to people ways unprecedented in America, before and since." -Roosevelvet
Plain and simple. I like the prints. I am into the inspiration. I want to research it some more. Find anything? Drop me a line.

Now to finish out this beyond exhausting day.

A Little Break

As I mentioned to y'all on Friday, me and the Hubs went on a little mini vaca. It was much needed to say the least. We got married in May, so all of our vacation time went to the wedding and the honeymoon. Our butts have been in Lynchburg all summer! So this was our chance to get away for a long weekend.

Friday night after work we headed off to Kitty Hawk, NC to pay a visit to Jon's Aunt Chele. I had never been to her beach house, and Jon hadn't been since high school, so we were glad to go visit!

Alright, I will just go ahead and get to the good stuff...all the pictures of course!

We had such an awesome trip! I know, I know I got carried away with the pictures, but you guys hardly ever get to see us. So there you go!

In case you were wondering, we got to climb to the top of Currituck Lighthouse, which is where all those amazing pictures of the staircase were taken. I just could not get enough of those floors and that iron staircase that was painted green! It was such a classy place. The brick, the iron, the marble, the tiled floors. It was amazing. I love lighthouses. This was Jon's first time at one, so that was pretty exciting!

We also went to the Wright Brothers National Memorial, where man took the first flight. I think the last time I was here I was three, so it was super cool. I got slightly obsessed with that building. I loved that it was trimmed with bright orange, it just added to all the retro exhibits inside. And the actual memorial, yeah that was sort of a hike but you could see the whole town from up there! It was a great ending to a great weekend.

I love getaway weekends. I hope we get to do another soon. Or better yet, take off to a new city...keep your fingers crossed, it just might happen.

Longing for the Beach

I'm not going to lie. This summer has been a little difficult for me. My entire life I have lived within minutes of the water, and I loved that. And now, here I am living in the mountains of Central Virginia. The mountains are nice, and we have the James River but it sincerely does not compare to being a short drive from the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. I really miss the beach. As a child, every weekend of every summer was spent with my grandparents at their second home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. It saddens me to say I have only been twice this summer. Both times, it was too early to even imagine swimming. In fact I only caught a short glimpse of the beach.

It is really getting to me now, as I look back this is the time when I was at the beach the most. Just a week before my birthday, getting ready to start hockey preseason (don't even get me started on how much I miss that!) it was just those last moments of summer that always drew you to the beach.

So I have collected some beachy-themed items (yeah I was on a jewelry kick) and some key points to the Delaware Shore to tide me over until I can make the seven hour trip North.

I need a print of this is my house.

This would be perfect in a beach house. Modern driftwood?

Easily the best pizza on Earth. Always my first stop once I get there!

An upscale version of my favorite childhood accessory!

Funland! This was always the highlight of my weekend.

Classy Studs. The color begs for the sea.

The ONLY place to get ice cream at the beach. Orange and vanilla twist please!

Wouldn't this be lovely for a beach wedding?

The best french fries on the planet. Always eaten with apple cider vinegar!

Such a fun sea inspired piece. I would adore having this.

The iconic sign that dominates the Rehoboth skyline. They also have awesome caramel corn.

Take me here any day. But pick me out a pretty umbrella!

Lusting over this.

There you have it. A small walk down memory lane. I know, this was a little bit of a random post but I enjoy lusting over jewelry while thinking about delicious beach fries covered in vinegar. I know, I'm just original like that.

If you are at the beach, know that I am insanely jealous. If you aren't I hope this post inspires a trip. I need to get up there ASAP! But at this point, I think I may wait until they take the meters down after Labor Day. This girl is not made of quarters! Especially since one quarter only gets you 12 minutes these days. What a rip off!

What do you think? Have you ever been to Rehoboth Beach? Do you want to go now? Where is your favorite beach destination?

P.S. I promise to deliver a more quality post at some point during the day.

P.S.S. Don't forget Project Runway tonight! It's important stuff!
