It Doesn't Get Better Than Letterpress

I am seriously wishing I had access to these puppies. I mean letterpress gift tags? If I got one of these it would go up on an in-office inspiration board for the entire year.

I just absolutely love those last ones, don't you? Clever. Simply genius! They would be so perfect for a white elephant party

P.S. I hope you guys enjoy the new navigation. Those pages that are still blank, I am working on (a girl can only get so much done in one weekend). Check back every so often for new stuff, I am hoping to get everything completed very shortly!

The Total Mother Load

I am having such a hard time right now. I found the most incredible Etsy shop ever! Yes, I realize this is a bold statement but it is so true! In fact, I am having a super hard time deciding what it is I want to post. There are just too many goodies.

But more to the point. You NEED to go visit this Etsy shop. Yes by that I mean stop what you are doing this instant and go to this shop. Your life will never be the same again. It is pure graphic design mayhem, and I know you want some of that.

Without further ado, I give you my favorite items from the plethora of goodies at Yee Haw, a letterpress shop from Knoxville, Tennessee.

See what I mean? There is just so much, and yes these are all from one shop. And, I didn't even show you their apparel listings or their line of journals

It is literally too much to handle. I will be returning to this shop on a regular basis, no questions asked.

I seriously want some of their card sets. How great would they be to have on hand?

Classy Coasters

Yeah, that is a pun on words.

Ran across these today and I think they are devilishly cute.

Get it? Come on you know it's funny.

P.S. I am having a bout of "bloggers block," hopefully I can get it together for y'all by the end of the evening.
P.S.S. I will readily take submissions if any of you graphic designers want a feature! Drop me a line.

Hand Lettered and Letterpressed

What better combination could you ever even try to imagine? Yeah I couldn't come up with one either. I cannot get over these gorgeous invitations I found on Paper Crave this morning.

These are the wedding invitations of Los Angeles graphic designer Satsuki Shibuya (who recently launched Zakka Nouveau a graphic and product design studio). Pretty impressive. For more details about the concept and for more photos, visit the original post over at Paper Crave.

And the colors? I don't care if you are a guy, pink has never looked so grown-up and classic.

P.S. Sorry about the light posting the past couple of days. My 9-5 has been pretty hectic and I haven't had the down time I normally do. Oh what we all suffice for a paycheck. I am not giving up on the blogging world, I swear! I am just super busy!

Multiple Purposes

Although I know that re purposing has become somewhat a curse of a trend I am adoring this Etsy find today! Now I am not saying I am not all for recycling, I just think "re purposing" is getting a little out of hand. But every once in a while you come along a re purposed item so brilliant you can't help but gawk, just a little.

Blue Bird Heaven is an Etsy shop based out of Louisville, KY. The owner Jessica seems to have quite the passion for re purposing things. She likes to take the old and give it a fresh twist, giving it a more modern use. And that, I can get on board with.

I was after some letterpress who's it and what not's this morning and came across these treasures. Blue Bird Heaven takes letterpress printer's drawers and turns them into beautiful jewelry cupboards. They truly are unique, and if you think about it how perfect is this vessel for the cause? It is a seamless transition. I feel like one of these could transform your bedroom into something warm and inviting and "lived in" a wonderful heirloom piece. Check it out.

Beautiful and brilliant right? I thought so. I am going to have to save up for one of these goodies. They are just so charming.

P.S. Posting may be light throughout the weekend. It is alumni weekend here in Lynchburg, and I will proudly be making a fool of myself at this years Lynchburg College Field Hockey Alumni Game! Wish me luck! I hope to make it more than two laps around the field without gasping for breath. Have a great one blogosphere!

Back to Basics

As you may or may not know, the entire purpose of this blog is to catalog my own personal inspirations, a look book of sorts. Now I post tons of self-inspiring stuff, but I often neglect what I actually need this place for in the process. I like to share, so I share everything and sometimes I don't get down to the point. Well today is about getting down to the point.

Last night in an attempt to get some Nimble work accomplished (more on the spectacle that is Nimble in the near future, it's big things people!) I found myself not only brutally sick, but stumped. I think I have put too much pressure on myself to produce, and I have not been feeding my brain with the proper design nourishment. I need to go back to one simple rule, KISS aka; keep it simple stupid.

Dude and Chick, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota does just that. They keep it simple, and they make it blunt. And together it makes for all around great design, amazing letterpress and a good solid chuckle.

Pretty awesome right? And don't you love the subtle but effective detail that letterpress can provide. It really makes for a knee slapper! Ha! I now know where I will be shopping for the next birthday card I need, because who wouldn't want one of these? It is such a nice break from the box store junk. I seriously cannot wait to check back for a roundup of holiday cards. Oh, just image the amazing blog posts!

Punctuate away,

Jessie-Lee

P.S. I am still sick, it is worse than yesterday. I wish I was at home in my comfy bed, but instead I am at work. It's quite possibly the worst situation ever. I will stick to the Tazo Chai and honey and hope for the best.

P.S.S. Drink your Airborne people and hype up the vitamin C, you do NOT want this!

Pink Erases All Mistakes

Is this not too funny? I love it when designers put their witty powers to good instead of evil.

Cooties

I don't know about you, but my elementary school experience would not have been complete without these things. You fate was in the hands of the cootie catcher! And you did not want to get stuck picking the flap that led you and all your friends to belive you were going to marry to dorkiest boy in school. Can you say embarrassing?

Well now that we are all grown up and super mature, we still make these awesome little predictors of our future. We are just classy enough to do it in letterpress now, well at least Sycamore Street Press is.

Gotta love it! Entirely sophisticated right? I think I am just going to have to make one and keep it on my desk for inspiration. It's nice to have reminders to stay playful.

I bet you are thinking to yourself, "I wish I remembered how to make one of these!" No worries. I got your back. In case you are wondering Ruffled has a tutorial! Their intention is that you use them at weddings for menus and such, which would be cool but I am way more into just playing with them.

Drop me a line when you finish! I would love to see your creations. It would be a worthy follow up post.

Have fun! Ohh and don't forget to put an ugly boys name under one flap, you just have to!
