A Trip To The Mall...

never proves to be a good thing!

I ventured into Crate and Barrel, bad idea. I found amazing things for an apartment I don't even have yet! Oh the woes of relocation.

Well, for when the Hubs and I do find the perfect place I want this couch:
It is quite possibly the most comfortable couch I have ever had the pleasure of sinking into. And it come with a chair and a half! With an ottoman! Can you say makeshift chaise lounge for two? I can. It would be totally perfect for movie watching. I only have one issue, it only comes in that child-friendly denim fabric. Ick. I prefer a chicer finish. I guess style is the price you pay for comfort. What a bummer.

On a side note, I found this:
We aren't in the market for a new bed, but when we are this is it. A modern canopy bed, in black! It could not be more "our" style. And yes, on this one we would actually agree. And, I couldn't possibly buy this bed without the completely awesome ottoman at the foot of the bed. Perfect.

What can I say, I dream big. Really big. It may be out of reach now, but I don't let up.

One Sugar or Two?

Since the Hub's and I are moving, in a couple of very short months, I am on a decorating kick. You know, when you are all excited about moving into a new space and you just think all day about how you can reinvent it to be just yours. Ok, well I do that! One project I know I have wanted to tackle for a while is changing out the drawer pulls on our "old person" bedroom set. I really think these would do the trick to make it just a little more "us."

Back to the point! I was perusing the Anthro site and came across these pretty amazing chandeliers. I am not sure if I would ever have the guts to hang anything this quirky in our home (or if the Hub's would let me), but I do appreciate them for what they are.

I just can't get over how unique these are! I mean, imagine the conversation a piece like this in your dining room would start. I would have to hold regular tea parties if I had that first chandelier. Hands down.

Would you be gutsy enough to give one of these a try?

Mirror, Mirror

I was pursuing the Anthro website today, and amongst all the gift guide goodness I noticed these mirrors. And they are to die for! What I wouldn't give to have my reflection appear in one of these!

Yeah, that last one is my favorite and it was just so gosh darn lovely that I had to share the "in room" photo. And that just makes me jealous that my apartment isn't that cool. See Anthro! See what you do to me! Swoon.

Multiple Purposes

Although I know that re purposing has become somewhat a curse of a trend I am adoring this Etsy find today! Now I am not saying I am not all for recycling, I just think "re purposing" is getting a little out of hand. But every once in a while you come along a re purposed item so brilliant you can't help but gawk, just a little.

Blue Bird Heaven is an Etsy shop based out of Louisville, KY. The owner Jessica seems to have quite the passion for re purposing things. She likes to take the old and give it a fresh twist, giving it a more modern use. And that, I can get on board with.

I was after some letterpress who's it and what not's this morning and came across these treasures. Blue Bird Heaven takes letterpress printer's drawers and turns them into beautiful jewelry cupboards. They truly are unique, and if you think about it how perfect is this vessel for the cause? It is a seamless transition. I feel like one of these could transform your bedroom into something warm and inviting and "lived in" a wonderful heirloom piece. Check it out.

Beautiful and brilliant right? I thought so. I am going to have to save up for one of these goodies. They are just so charming.

P.S. Posting may be light throughout the weekend. It is alumni weekend here in Lynchburg, and I will proudly be making a fool of myself at this years Lynchburg College Field Hockey Alumni Game! Wish me luck! I hope to make it more than two laps around the field without gasping for breath. Have a great one blogosphere!

Not Just For Walls

Wallpaper, we all love to hate it. Or do we? Up until very recently I always associated wallpaper with something my Mom-Mom decorated her bathrooms and dining room with. I swear, I will always have the memory of that seventies avocado green and yellow floral stuff she had "decorating" the walls of her dining room. Ewey. But back to the point. Wallpaper is not what it used to be, in fact lately we have been seeing much more modern prints and more of an "overall room aesthetic" kind of approach to the design of the stuff. In fact, some designers don't even utilize it for the walls anymore.

Bryonie Porter is a London based furniture "wall paper-er?" I don't exactly know how to describe her actual job, but all you need to know is furniture + wallpaper + this lady = a whole lot of design awesomeness.

Aren't they wonderful? I would love to have that black piece, it is patterned but so subtle. It would be like having my own furniture design secret or something. Oh and I love the faces. Can I put that pattern on a china cupboard and have it in my dining room? That would be wonderful!

What do you think? A little too much, or are you just dying for one of these!?

"A" Swoon Worthy Piece

This has got to be about the coolest thing ever. Graphic designer lust! I need this in my home! Does it come in a wood version? Maybe with a nice cushion?

But really, on a more serious note. The creative genius behind this lovely piece is Alexie Sommer, founder of Lex Design London. She was originally inspired to create this piece by a ply-wood furniture exhibition. After researching further inspirations she took a typographic figure, sustainable materials and created this masterpiece. Pretty nifty right? It's amazing what creative minds can do. Sort of makes you want to push yours right?

I wish I could buy this. I would give up my chaise lounge dream really quick!

What do you think? Would you sit in a cardboard chair? Or just a cardboard chair that looks like that!?

Function Wins This Time

Currently, my living room is bare. When my sister moved into LC, she took our futon and our entertainment center. The entertainment center was doubling as our coffee table, since our TV is on the wall and it was just right for that purpose versus its original one. So, all in all, my living room has no furniture. It is one lump of blank space. I do have a plan. I know the exact pieces I want and where I want to put them. The hardest part is convincing the Hubs that an area rug is necessary, furthermore that the $199 one from Target is worth it. He thinks that is insane for a rug, he knows nothing of home decor. I mean seriously, the man prefers carpet to hardwood. There are some things I am just going to have to work on with him.

But the point of all that is, one of the things we NEED is a coffee table. I mean there is no focal point to our room and for once I am noticing that the room needs to function properly. And a coffee table is, well, an extremely functional piece. Uncharacteristic of me I know. Form over function is my indefinite motto. I have been scouring the Internet and I have yet to find the one. I am pretty close, but not sold yet. So, I found some lovelies on Etsy, to inspire me for the occasion. Problem is I wish I could afford these handcrafted beauties.

This one is my favorite of the bunch. It provides storage, while being an amazing focal point. So original.

How awesome would this table be with other items? Such as letterpress letters!

I love the concept of this one, it hits home for me. But man, would that be a bitch to dust!

So there you have it! Amazing options more than likely we are all too poor to afford. I must say, I am very much leaning to the industrial look some of these have going on. They are so perfectly imperfect.

Whoa is me. This is going to go on for a while. I can almost guarantee you this will be the last piece to fall into place in this room. We have been trying to find a table since March. Not working. I mean I don't think our specifications are too crazy. We want a black table, with some kind of double tier thing going on (we need a shelf! or a drawer!) and it needs to look cool while being not Ikea made. I need a coffee table!

Do you have any suggestions? We have a modest budget, but expensive taste! Anything you have to offer up would be super helpful. Reference me some links people!

This is a Hardware Store?

So this is a little surprising. Yesterday at work we had a baby shower for my boss' boss. Yup, its that confusing here in the corporate world. But back to the point. This pregnant lady has expensive taste, which is no surprise considering we bought her a $90 picture frame. Go figure. But, throughout all the pregnant lady conversation (ack!) she brought up this place called Restoration Hardware. All I can say is, "Wow." This website is amazing and their products, can you say gorgeous. I don't think I will ever look at Pottery Barn again. Ever.

So lets get to the lovelies. Get ready, the styling of these products will blow your mind.

An easel for the TV. Are you serious?!? Swoon.

May I please have those light fixtures. And don't even get me started on that wine display!

Love the typography art. I wish I had a drawing room.

I'm speechless over these chairs.

The beds! The trunks! The sophistication!

Aviation chairs! What I would do for one of these.

Note to the Hubs: trunks as coffee tables are awesome. I want mine back.

How beautiful is this bed? So luxurious.

Warehouse table? Industrial shelving? Yes, please! But it still looks cozy.

I have fallen in love with this desk. And the chair, too perfect.

The lamp. Look at the lamp.

This is how His and Hers is meant to be. Note the cabinets!

That light fixture! Sinks on different walls? What you can do with an unlimited budget.

If I could only have one piece of furniture for the rest of forever, it would be this chair.

Amazing. I am seriously infatuated with this place. The nearest one is three hours away, not that I could afford anything in this store. But it would be nice to take pictures and just sit on things for a while. It would make me feel sophisticated and expensive even if it only lasts an hour.

This website is going to be checked often from now on! I can't get enough of it. I am truly envious of their styling team. They are amazing and extremely talented.

I'm in love.
