Scared of Cobra Snakes

I am in love with this movie poster. It might be my favorite piece of graphic design ever. Although that might be because I am obsessed with this movie.

Too clever. And this Dude is my age to boot. It sort of makes you go wow, that is my competition, I am so screwed. (Plus he has a super awesome name!)

It's A Guy Thing

Yes, I must admit that for the most part this is a very girly blog. But, it is a personal blog and since I happen to be a girl I find it acceptable. Getting back on track, I found some goodies today that have inspired me to switch it up a little. Jack Spade; clever, cool, classic, stylish. Everything a dream guy should be right? These lovelies are no exception, if only I found some of these before Christmas! The Hub's would have been living large.

Yes! Finally installed my CS5 and am now totally working with PhotoShop. Totally necessary. I think it adds, do you?

I sort of want that orange bag for myself, and the colored pencil set? Yes please! And that cork wallet? Weird but I like it.

What's the Story Morning Glory

I think it is safe to say that I have never in my life been a morning person. Well, I think I may convert. The Hub's and I started a "boot camp" workout at the gym; literally, steps away from our place. It is at 6am. I thought that was going to be a deal breaker, but in all honesty I am really loving all the extra time it gives me. Up at 5:30am. At the gym by 6am. Home by 7:05am. I have already accomplished so much by the time the sun rises. Now I can leisurely shower, eat, get dressed, really enjoy my coffee and more importantly BLOG! I think this is a good thing for me. I feel more centered, happier and just able to deal with the 9-5 a little better. I mean I have been awake three whole hours by the time I have to go into work!

This was a change for the better.

Are you guys morning people? Or is sleeping in a simple pleasure you aren't willing to go without?

P.S. I think I am going to omit the sign off. It worked for the first five posts, now its daunting. Thoughts?

Greatest Ad Ever

During my travels this weekend I came across the greatest advertisement ever. Well that is if you get it. And to get it you have to be from, or be familiar with the Maryland area.

As explained in my previous post I traveled to Baltimore this weekend to attend a wedding expo with one of my best friends. At the door they gave her a few bridal magazines and this piece of amazing advertising was the first page of Baltimore Bride. Too awesome.

The Natty Boh guy and the Utz girl. Classic. Hilarious. If you are unfamiliar with these two Maryland icons, check it out here and here.

You can find out more about the case study at MGH.

So in love with this.

I'm Off!

I am about to embark on a mini (very solo) road trip! Its been a long week here and I have plans to go have a weekend with one of my besties in our (hopefully) soon to be new city

So to break it down, I am out of here for the weekend.

I am going here:

To spend time with this chica (minus the bibs!):

While we make plans for her October wedding, at this pretty place:

Yup, major girls weekend. If only it didn't take five hours to get there. Yes, I still want to move like yesterday.

Empire State of Mind

I adore the style of the 1930's. Art Deco is just so distinct it is hard to ignore.

I spotted these wedding invites over on Etsy a while ago, but just got around to posting them.

Mind you, this style isn't for everyones wedding. But if you are looking for a very vintage vibe this would be the way to go.

Ornate. Geometric. Lovely.

Body Art

I have to admit, I have been struggling finding topics lately. I think most of that has been coming from a few life distractions. My mind has been so focused on job applications, its about all I do when I open up my MacBook lately. Man, I want to move incredibly bad. The sooner the better!

With that said, I forgot how much stuff I used to bookmark before I actually started blogging. I was a blog lurker for quite sometime before I started my own little pride and joy. I came across this page and I am shocked I have not shared this before! Let me tell you, I was obsessed with this page after I found it.

Amanda Wachob. Tattoo artist. Totally awesome.

For the record, I have never been a big fan of the all too permanent body art. I don't think I would ever get a tattoo if you paid me, but if this lady wanted to color me up I might have to reconsider that statement.

How gorgeous are these?

Incredible. It sort of brings a whole new meaning to the term "body art." All I can say is, I like it.

What do you think? To tattoo or not to tattoo, that is the question?

Let It Snow

I cannot get enough of this image I spotted on Design Crush earlier today.

I sort of want to hang this on my wall. I just can't stop looking at it.

It feels like snow here today, but I don't believe there is any in sight for us. We have yet to get a really good snow this winter, you know one of those ones where you can call in to work and play all day. I could use one of those (especially since all my vacation days from my 9-5 replenished with the new year!)

Come One, Come All

The Hubs and I just bought some new DVD storage and I found a gem I totally forgot I had.

Carnivàle

Ahh. Don't you just love the concept of the intro. It gets me every time.

I was obsessed with this mini-series when it first debut on HBO in 2003. My Dad and I were super into it, and we never missed a Sunday night episode. I was totally disheveled when they announced they weren't bringing it back for a third season (that is the catch here people!). Any who, I NEED to tell you about it.

IMDB tells us:
"1934, America. The Dustbowl. A fugitive named Ben Hawkins finds refuge within a traveling carnival comprised of a tarot card reader and her catatonic/telekinetic mother, a blind mentalist, a bearded lady, and conjoined twins, amongst others. The carnival is owned by the mysterious and unseen Management, who has designs on the young Hawkins, for the boy is concealing an untapped gift: he can heal the lame and raise the dead--at a price. Ben also finds himself disturbed by cryptic and prophetic dreams, which he shares with a Methodist preacher in California, Brother Justin Crowe. Brother Justin, convinced by his dreams he is following God's will, has begun to practice his own extraordinary talents, although the preacher's plans increasingly lead to disturbing and tragic consequences. In this "last great age of magic," Ben Hawkins and Justin Crowe are moving toward a great conflict between Good and Evil, although it not yet clear on which sides these men will stand. "
If you do decide to watch I will warn you, be prepared for a lot of weird, but good weird, need to see more weird.

The styling of this series is flawless. I believe that is why they eventually had to cut the series, the production was just too expensive.

So before I get to rambling just way too much, Netflix this bad boy. Or go here and here to purchase. You will not regret it. I highly recommend it! In fact the Hub's has never seen it, we might need a snow day to bury in and do the damn thing!

Let me know what you think! I would love to know if anyone else likes this kind of stuff too, any and all opinions are welcome!

Office Space

If you know me and the Hubs, you know a move is in the works. In fact I announced that last week! We have been pretty heavy on the apartment search and with the proposed salaries we should be bumping up to, we both have a few requests.

First and foremost we want a loft. A spiral staircase, your bedroom is a separate floor from all your other crap, loft. One of my biggest requests is enough space to have some sort of an office. Yes, I know that is quite the luxury when you are looking at one bedrooms in the city but this chica is tired of settling for the so-so. (Cough, my 9-5).

Here is my argument, I need a creative space. Most of you other designers know exactly what I mean. I need a space where I can have cork boards with pins where I can plaster my space with inspiration. It is really hard to do that in our current diggs. Currently our "office" is parallel with our dining table. On the wall above the desk is all of our Lynchburg College accolades. Yup, it takes up the whole wall; diplomas, (yeah we have the super awesome frames with the water color painting of the school, it was non-negotiable for me) field hockey and baseball stuff galore. There is just no room for any of my design materials let alone some inspiration boards.

I want office space.

I want to be able to shut the door when I make a mess, heck I want to be able to make a mess! Your office and living space should be separate. Oh whoa is me!

I think I found the solution here, but the Hubs is not as sold on this place as I am. In my mind it is everything I could want! Thoughts? I think it is so me!

Do any of you have this problem? How in the world do you cope? Do any of you share a desk with your significant other? How do you organize it all!!

Off to Work

So, if I had a really awesome job to a) afford this outfit and b) to actually wear this to, I would rock this outfit.

Still on the hunt for a job that will make this move happen. Anyone have any graphic design connections in Baltimore? If so drop me a line! I could use the help.

I just love those shoes, I can't get over them. And that bag! What I would do for my own oil panting bag. I think an Etsy search is in order for one that isn't $398, even with an awesome job that would NOT be happening.

Chalk It Up

I am jealous of anyone that can execute hand drawn type in a non five year old kind of way. OK, I suck at it, so I am just in awe when people take letter forms to a whole new level. This Chica is kind of insane, but I can't stop looking at her work!

All in chalk my friends, all in chalk. I know that just makes it even more amazing doesn't it? Dana Tanamachi is one heck of a talent. And you should see her other work. Not only does she have this skill, but she is one heck of a graphic designer. Sort of makes you wonder how you missed that talent train doesn't it?

Still in total awe. Love.

Feathers Everywhere

So I am really loving this look.

Feather extensions! I am totally loving it. I really want a chartreuse set (to match my glasses). Yeah, a set is three extensions for ten dollars. Whaaaaat?!? They last a couple months even with washing, conditioning, blow drying, curling and straightening. I am thinking I might have to invest in these puppies pretty soon. The company is called Plume. I suggest you check them out.

A Change in the Air

The Hub's and I are making plans for a major change. More specifically a major move. Charm City is the projected destination. Now that the decision has been made, we have to bide our time waiting to hear back from job applications. And the most exciting part, we have to find a place to live! In the city!! Yay!

More updates to come, but this Chica could not be more excited!

Happy New Year

Let me tell you, I am happier than ever the new year is here! I am beyond ready for a fresh start in 2011. Not going to lie tho, 2010 brought some amazing times and an awesome Hubs! Getting married was hands down the best part of 2010. I couldn't be happier with the Dude I get to share my life with.

Now, expect a resolution post from me tomorrow (or so, we are going out of town this weekend). I have quite a few of those puppies to jot down while I am still determined to fulfill them.

Do you have any resolutions? Lay 'em on me.
